Mothering Across Continents: Adopting Dreams. Raising Tomorrow's Leaders

Raising Sudan Sharon Dempsey

A growing number of people, particularly women, want to make a difference in the lives of orphans and vulnerable children around the world.

Mothering Across Continents (MAC) is a 501c3 non-profit through which volunteer "catalysts" receive consulting, coaching and mentoring to develop dream projects that help raise tomorrow's leaders. Today, we have projects underway in South Africa, Rwanda, South Sudan, Tanzania, Haiti and Hong Kong.

Projects begin when a potential catalyst approaches Mothering Across Continents with a grass-roots idea that needs focus and a strategy, or, we discover a worthy project and invite someone with passion and commitment to guide it. Projects:

  • Take place in an impoverished location
  • Begin with a pilot and "seed" funding
  • Revolve around themes of education, nutrition, health, joy and peace
  • Are monitored to achieve dramatic results and become models for change

Passport for Purpose

I Care Book Fair

For Mother’s Day 2011, Mothering Across Continents launched the I Care Book Fair, a marketplace of inspiring books about a broad range of people exhibiting maternal instincts and a spirit of mothering around the world.

Our first "Top 10" selections, along with links to purchase, are now available here. Each book is a moving account of what happens when any one woman, man, child or family gets an idea and begins to sow seeds of change, especially on behalf of orphans and vulnerable children. A portion of every book sale will fund MAC support of projects for children in need.
